HP Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Today I purchased the HP Spectre Bluetooth Mouse 500 to pair with my HP Spectre x360 (Win 10).

It connected quickly, the click and the scroll both works, but the cursor will not move.

Troubleshooting so far:

- Notebook and mouse restart

- Connected it to my partner's computer and it worked first time.

- Reinstall mouse x 3

- Change mouse batteries

- Connected another bluetooth mouse to my device - it worked.

- Updated every possible driver from bluetooth to touchpad.

- Updated Windows 10

- Spent more than an hour on hold to HP Support, only to be hung up on. *grumble*

There must be some incompatibility, which would be ridiculous considering they're both HP Spectre products, and why would only the movement not work when the click and scroll does? Is the touchpad overriding it some how? Google was not helpful.

Advice needed please! I don't have time to spend hours troubleshooting this.

Thank you.

Okay, I've just figured it out, only a few minutes after typing the post up. I feel a bit silly, but I'm going to leave the post here in case it helps someone else.

It was the mouse pad. Yep. I've spent hours today trying to sort this out and it was the mouse pad. It's a standard black pad with a wrist support. I initially tried the mouse on my white desk and leg, and it wasn't working then, but this time, I tried it on my desk again and that cursor shifted easily across my screen. To test the theory, I got another mouse pad, a black one practically the same, and it works on the new pad. For some reason, the mouse sensor did not like that particular mouse pad. How odd!

So, I hope this helps someone else.
