HP Spectre x360 - 13-w023dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My son is trying to use an application called Hitfilm on an HP Spectre x360 - 13-w023dx.  It notifies him that his Intel Graphic Driver is out of date.

The latest version on the HP web-site for this model is from 2017.

If I use Intel Driver and Support assistant, it lists a newer version, but it won't install because the HP Spectre uses an OEM version of the Intel Driver.

I know there is a workaround to install the Generic Intel Driver.  The question is, should I do it?

Why hasn't HP updated the driver since 2017?  Intel comes out with newer graphic drivers almost every few months.

Any drawbacks to installing the generic intel driver?

Hi:

I use the driver from Intel all the time on a couple of my HP notebooks.

Never had an issue...

Remember what I wrote to you earlier this morning about HP updating drivers?

They rarely do it on consumer PC's unless there is a bug with the driver listed on the support page, or there is a major issue with the driver and subsequent releases of W10.

HP will rarely update the driver just because.

See this discussion for how to update the Intel graphics driver...
