Spectre Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Spectre used to sporadically connect to my Samsun monitor.  If I shut it down and restarted or removed the chords eventually it would connect.  Now it will no longer connect.  Into this for 4 hours.  My Windows Surface using the same chords connects fine.

I have updated the BIOS and the Intel driver

HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ap0xxx

Product ID:  00325-80000-00000-AAOEM

I have read the forums and did updates as suggested.  I have exchanged the power chord and display chords.  Other links I have looked at are broken.

Aside from purchasing another WIndows Surface, new suggestions are welcome.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you using HDMI connection or USB?
  • Are you getting an error message while connecting the Samsung Display?

As you have mentioned your HP Spectre used to connect occasionally or at irregular intervals that means its incompatible device.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thunderbolt to HDMI

No

OK but its a monitor nothing strange and not old.  Also strange that it would more often than not connect prior to a few days ago - monitor didn't get a software upgrade

and the monitor works no problem  with my Surface and Dell.

In the end you are saying my monitor is not supported so I cannot use it correct?

Thank you for posting back.

To get the answer to this question, yes it seems like you need to try with the different latest model monitors in order to corner down this display compatibility.
