Hi @Didi6211, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since your LG external display is going blank every 5 to 10 minutes while connected to your HP Spectre x360 14-ea1000 through an HP Docking Station, here are some troubleshooting steps to locate the root cause:
Check Physical Connections
- Secure all cables: Ensure the dock’s power adapter is firmly connected and all USB-C, HDMI, or DisplayPort cables are seated properly.
- Try a different port: If your docking station has multiple display output ports, switch to another one.
- Test another cable: A faulty HDMI/DisplayPort cable could be the issue.
Update Graphics & Dock Drivers
- Update Intel Graphics Driver
- Download and install the latest Intel Iris Xe Graphics driver from the Intel website or HP Support Assistant.
- Update Docking Station Firmware & Drivers
- Check for updates via HP Support Assistant or from the official HP website for your specific docking station model.
- Windows Update
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install the latest updates.
Check Power & Sleep Settings
- Disable USB Power Saving:
- Open Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers
- Right-click each USB Root Hub > Properties > Power Management
- Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
- Disable Display Sleep & Power Saving Mode
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep
- Set “Turn off display” to Never (or a long duration).
- Check LG Monitor Power-Saving Mode:
- In your LG monitor settings (using the on-screen menu), disable Automatic Power Save or Energy Saving Mode.
Test Direct Connection (Bypass Dock)
- Connect your Spectre directly to the LG display via HDMI or USB-C (without the docking station).
- If the issue persists, your LG monitor or Spectre GPU may be the cause.
- If the issue is resolved, the dock might be faulty or needs a firmware update.
Check Event Viewer for Errors
If the screen goes blank at specific intervals, check Windows logs:
- Press Win + X > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System
- Look for critical errors or warnings around the time of display blackouts.
Test with Another Display
- If possible, try connecting a different monitor or TV to the docking station.
- If the new display works fine, the LG monitor may be the problem.
If the issue is with the dock → Update firmware or replace it.
If the issue is with the LG monitor → Adjust its power settings or try a factory reset.
If the issue is with the Spectre laptop → Perform a clean driver reinstall or consider a Windows update/rollback.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
