HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000 RCTO Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently bought an HP Spectre x360 convertible notebook and I find the screen brightness is not up to the mark even on 100% screen brightness. I have tried updating all the drivers, resetting the windows, and running "dxdiag" command promt on "windows run" to see if there is any hardware failure but everything seems to fine and working. However, the brightness issue is still unresolved. Is this because the laptop has touch screen?

Hi @Avinashramesh,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Spectre x360's brightness issue is unlikely to be caused by the touch screen itself. Since you've already tried updating drivers, resetting Windows, and running diagnostic checks, here are a few more things you could try.

  • Check Power Settings: Sometimes, power settings can affect screen brightness. Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings and make sure you're using a power plan that doesn't limit screen brightness. Also, check if the "Adaptive brightness" setting is enabled and try turning it off.
  • Adjust the Brightness Manually: Ensure you're adjusting the brightness correctly. Go to Settings > System > Display and use the slider to adjust the brightness. You might also want to check the brightness settings in the Action Center by clicking on the battery icon in the taskbar.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, brightness issues can be related to the BIOS or firmware. Check HP's support website for any available BIOS or firmware updates for your model.
  • Check Display Settings: Make sure that your display settings are correctly configured. Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings. Ensure that the resolution and scaling settings are set correctly for your display.
  • Calibration: Use Windows' built-in display calibration tool. Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings > Color calibration.
  • HP Support Assistant: Use the HP Support Assistant tool to run a hardware diagnostic specifically for display issues.
  • External Factors: Ensure that the laptop's environment is not affecting the display brightness. For example, excessive light or reflections could make the screen appear dimmer than it is.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
