I have the same issue and am interested in what happened to your laptop.  Were you able to fix your monitor?  Did you have to replace the monitor?  If so how much did it cost?

I just spent $170 to replace my power cable to fix USB C connectivity problem, so I don't want to spend any additional $$$ to fix this laptop.   My monitor is getting whiter and lines are so visible.   Capture1.PNG

@gowahine
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • Are you able to see those ghosting images and vertical lines on an external monitor or TV?
  • Have you checked the display in the BIOS environment?

While you respond to that, let's try and boot the computer into the Bios screen and check if the lines are visible.

  • Turn off your computer
  • Make sure you have connected the power cable
  • Turn on your notebook, as it is starting press the F10 button repeatedly and check for ghost image or lines.

If it's visible in bios, then it's an internal display related issue, servicing the computer will fix the issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
