Really frustratingly, my new (ish) HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 Laptop 16-f2xxx product: 7K833EA#ABU, frequently will not reognise the inbuilt camera when trying to establish WhatsApp video calls.  I can reboot  couple of times and get it working but that's not what I spend £1200 for...  Any advice most appreciated

Hello Bill1827, go to start, then Settings, on the next screen, Privacy, then camera and see if you have the camera enabled for the programs you use, as you say WhatsApp, etc... You give the camera permission to use with the programs you want.

Greetings.

Hi Jos, many thanks for your response.  Confirming app camera  permissions  was my 1st port of call.  The frustrating thing is it works if/when I restart the laptop (though not every time?) and then look at the camera in Whats Apps settigns.  I can use the camer throguhout and see the led indicator on the top of the screen confirmign it's active but no picture, with the app saying the camera is unavailable.

Hello Bill1827, you are going to do the following, go to start, Settings, Update & security, then Troubleshoot, click on Additional troubleshooters, then Play video, Run the troubleshooter and see if it fixes anything for you.

If this doesn't fix anything, I'm going to leave you some commands for the CMD or Command Prompt, always run it as administrator.

This will scan for and restore corrupted system files.
• When searching, type CMD.
• Right-click Command Prompt > Open as administrator.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

When you're done, type another command to start System File Checker.
In the same command prompt window. Copy and paste this command:
type sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/") and press Enter.
After you see a message that says "Verification 100% complete," type exit.

Finally this command.
Type chkdsk and press the Enter key. This command will cause the CHKDSK utility to check for problems without making changes

That doesn't solve anything either, I'm going to leave you some drivers for you to download and install, one is the graphics driver, go to Device Manager and uninstall the Display Adapters driver, then restart the laptop and then install it.

This is the Bios driver.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp152001-152500/sp152092.exe

This one is the Chipset controller.

I hope it solves your problem.

Greetings.
