I have an HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ae0xx that was purchased a couple of years ago
I am trying to connect my HP Spectre to an external Lepow monitor (Z1 Series Type C Portable Display) via the USB C to USB C connector. The message I get on the monitor is "No signal" and then the monitor enters powersave mode.
I know the cable/monitor works via USB C to USB C because I used the same cable to connect to my phone and it works fine.
I have updated all the drivers on my Spectre and run all the diagnostics tools. Everything passes.
I have tried both USB C ports on my Spectre. I have tried powering the external monitor separately. There is nothing I can do with the Windows display settings because the Spectre does not "see" the external monitor.
Any ideas for me?

Welcome to HP Community
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
This Notebook does have the USB Type-C Thunderbolt which should work as Display Port
Have you tried connecting any other monitors?
I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Thanks Krazy Toad.
- I actually got a replacement for the Lepow monitor because I thought it was faulty. Both Monitors had the same issue.
- I had already run the HP support assistant and the drivers etc are all up to date.
- I had already upgraded Windows 10 to the current version.
Any other ideas?

Hi KrazyToad,
How do I connect to a regular monitor? There are only USB C and regular (Type A?) USB ports. Don't I need a DVI/VGA/HDMI port for that?
Note: I have a USB A to HDMI (female) connector. Does the USB A port work for video?

I purchased a USB Type-C Thunderbolt to HDMI Adapter and connected my laptop to a working monitor using the cord. The monitor indicated it was getting no signal from the laptop and went to sleep. So the behavior is consistent.
Any idea what I can do/try?

As a last resort I suggest you perform a Reset and then run all the updates again
