HP Spectre x360 Convertible 14-ea0xxx

I've been using my spectre laptop for about a month now and have used it primarily for Microsoft Word and browsing the internet. Yesterday whilst using word, thick purple, vertical bars appeared on the screen and the whole laptop seemed to crash. No inputs would work and the screen kept getting darker. I didn't think to take a picture at the time, because I was more concerned with making sure the laptop still worked. I reset it and it hasn't done it since. But with it being bought from a third party, I can't get free HP live support to diagnose the problem. If anyone has any ideas, it would be appreciated. As if it needs returning/repairing for a serious issue, I'd like to get the process going.
