Hello, for some time I have been unable to adjust the brightness on my laptop at all with it being constantly set to full brightness. I should be able to adjust the brightness via the f2 and f3 hotkeys but these simply do nothing. Likewise, if I adjust the brightness slider via the notification button, this also has no effect. This used to work fine.
This means I am stuck with constant full brightness which is very frustrating, particularly for my battery life! I have tried numerous suggestions from other forums and threads, all to no effect.
Very grateful if someone could assist.
Thanks in advance.

Have you installed all available windows updates using the HP Support Assistant?
(if not, please do as it should resolve such issues)
Did you check your user guide for details on identifying the right key for your product?
(If not, Click here to access the same, look under Page.12 of Chapter 2 - External component identification)
Use the below screenshot for reference:
If the hotkey doesn't work, refer to this related post to resolve the issue: Click here for steps (the same steps will work for windows 10 as well)
Keep me posted, as I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,
And your device is up and running again, only in case you don't get back to us, first!
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Let's try running a hardware test on the keyboard using the UEFI menu.
1. Turn on the computer.
2. Immediately press the f2 key repeatedly, about once every second, until the UEFI menu opens.
When the UEFI menu opens, select the diagnostic test you want to run, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Keep me posted with the test results.
Have a great day!
Cheers 🙂

Thanks - it passed ok but still hasn't resolved the issue. When i press the hot keys, it does show the brightness slider as if it is adjusting it but the brightness does not change. Likewise if I try to adjust the brightness via the display settings - I can move the slider but the brightness does not actually change!
