HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000 (3Y838AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Spectre x360 screen goes black when I try to flip it 360 and use it as a tablet. The screen comes back on when I slightly lift it up a couple of degrees off of tablet mode. I can still hear the laptop CPU whirring around even if the screen has completely goes black so I know it is still on. The laptop is less than 6 months old so I don't know if it's just a software issue. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the HP support community

I understand that notebook goes blank in tablet mode, I am glad to assist you.

Hard Reset:

Follow the steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8. (do not skip any troubleshooting steps even if you feel steps are repeating)

BIOS default:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Keep me posted.

None of those helped I'm afraid.

Update the Bios, chipset, and drivers using HP Support Assistant.

Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here

  • HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
  • Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  • Click Updates in the My notebook pane
  • Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  • Updates list in HP Support Center
  • Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  • Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  • Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

  • Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Let me know how it goes.

Firstly, the link you gave me is broken! I did find the HP Support assistant eventually and my laptop is up-to-date. Also Windows is up-to-date. Still the problem persists.

This might require one on one interaction to fix the issue.

I am sending you a private message with the steps to talk to HP support.

Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.

I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.

Cheers.
