Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended

I have the 15-bl012dx and carry it everywhere. Often it is in a backpack on my motorcycle, but I have carried it hiking and carry it back and forth to a coworking facility and haven't had any issues.

That said, it is possible that any stress on the lid could cause it to crack the glass. The thinner they are forced to make the laptops, the more flexible they will be and flex is the enemy of glass.

It would be nice if HP would make an express path for replacing screens that have cracked due to what may be suggested by the evidence at no fault of the user. Of course I'm sure that there will be cases where the glass was cracked because the user subjected it to too much stress, but as long as there is no DIRECT EVIDENCE that the user was at fault, a discounted, express glass replacement program would be nice.

Users could send in their laptop for glass replacement and if HP finds no direct damage as would be caused by dropping or other trauma, then a replacement would be something like $175, but if evidence is found that shows the user is responsible, then maybe the cost should be ~$350.

There's no way HP can determine of the user is at fault without examining the laptop. I 'd be willing to pay $350 to get a cracked screen replaced. If it ended up not being my fault then I'd be thrilled to split the cost with HP.

Without a program like this in place HP's only recourse is to blame the user across the board, which will only anger and alienate customers who may be victims of a legitimate manufacturing defect.
