Hi, Everyone! I have an HP Stream14 running ChromeOS Flex. The screen will just not turn on (Even when I try to boot into the BIOS). The LED light on the side does light up, but there is no output to the display. This has happened to this laptop multiple times before but it is extra stubborn today. Can anyone help me?

Hi @dillond,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the screen on your HP Stream 14 laptop is not working, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.
- Check the Power: Ensure that your laptop is receiving power. Connect the charger and make sure the charging LED (if there is one) is lit. Sometimes, a dead battery can cause the laptop to not display anything.
- External Monitor: Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI cable. If the external monitor displays your laptop's screen, the issue may be with the laptop's built-in display.
- Brightness and Display Settings: Press the function key (usually labeled as "Fn") along with the key that has a display icon (usually one of the function keys, like F4, F5, F7, or F8) to increase the screen brightness. Sometimes, the screen brightness is turned down too low, making it appear as if the screen is not working.
- Hard Reset: Turn off your laptop, unplug it from the charger, and remove the battery (if possible). Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. Then, reattach the battery and charger, and turn on the laptop. This can sometimes reset the hardware and resolve display issues.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can cause display problems. Try to boot the laptop in Safe Mode (by pressing F8 or another key during startup) and then update the graphics drivers from the Device Manager.
- BIOS/UEFI Settings: Access the laptop's BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2 or another key during startup) and check if there are any display-related settings that need to be adjusted. Be cautious while making changes in the BIOS as incorrect settings can cause more issues.
- Faulty Display Hardware: If none of the above steps work, the issue may be with the laptop's display hardware, such as a faulty screen, backlight, or inverter.
- Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the laptop's screen for physical damage such as cracks, dents, or visible cable issues. If there's physical damage, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
- Software Issues: Sometimes, software problems can cause the screen to not work correctly. If you recently installed new software or updates, try to roll back those changes to see if it resolves the issue.
- Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can try a factory reset to return the laptop to its default settings. Be aware that this will erase all your data, so make sure to back up your important files first.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
