Unable to use HP True Vision 5MP IR camera, not in Device Manager, tried several different repair options and nothing worked. When put in my specific computer for HP drivers, the camera driver does not come up. For some reason unable to just locate the driver for camera. Need help.

@bk713, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue with the HP True Vision 5MP IR camera not appearing in Device Manager on your HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cr1000 (755C1AV) running Windows 11:
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
Use HP’s built-in diagnostics to check if the camera hardware is detected:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select Component Tests > Webcam and run the test.
If the camera is not detected here, it may be a hardware issue.
Check Device Manager for Hidden Devices
Sometimes the camera is hidden or misclassified:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Click View > Show hidden devices.
- Expand Imaging Devices, Cameras, or Universal Serial Bus controllers to check for the camera.
If it appears with a warning icon, right-click and choose Update driver.
Install or Update Drivers
If the camera driver is missing from the HP support page for your model, try the following:
- Go to HP support page.
- Enter your product: HP ENVY 17-cr1000.
- Download and install the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows and HP Support Assistant.
- Use HP Support Assistant to detect and install missing drivers.
If the IR camera is still not listed, try installing the Windows Hello Face Software Component or Intel Imaging Signal Processor if available.
Reset Windows Camera App and Permissions
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Camera.
- Click Advanced options > Reset.
- Also, go to Settings > Privacy & security > Camera and ensure access is enabled.
BIOS and Windows Updates
- Ensure your BIOS is up to date via HP BIOS Updates.
- Check for Windows updates under Settings > Windows Update.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
