Problem: HP Truevision HD camera is hidden in Device Manager & when I run the latest camera app from Microsoft Store, I get an error code <NoCameraAttached>. The camera light doesn't even turn on.

What I've done thus far to fix:

1. I've tried most of the suggestions on the internet.  Resetting the camera, turning off my computer, remove battery then press the power button for 12 seconds, replacing the battery back, turning computer back on for it to detect the camera (didn't work); tried uninstalling the TrueVision camera from device manager when it was unhidden, but computer didn't detect a camera when computer was rebooted; even tried detect hardware changes for the camera in device manager and restarting my computer.  I even downloaded Youcam for Win 7 from HP because they don't have the latest camera driver for Win 10, but download always failed after 20 times.  Then I downloaded another version of Youcam for another laptop and the download was successful, but camera was not detected.  I even updated the drivers for all of the other devices in device manager.  I even downloaded HP Support Assistant and it tells me that I have the latest updates.  I checked that I have all the Win 10 updates downloaded.  The only thing I haven't tried is finding the latest driver for the TruVision HD built-in webcam and installing it since HP does not have this.

One time it did work, but I didn't do anything.  One day, I noticed that  the Zoom software icon showed up in the list of Microsoft Store apps that is allowed permission to use the camera (even though Zoom is not considered a Microsoft Store app).  This was under the camera settings (camera application that I already installed from the Microsoft Store).  I had never seen this Zoom app listed there before.  I had to checked when my camera worked why it did work, so I looked under camera settings.  IF anyone can show me how I can get Zoom app back in the list of "Microsoft Store apps can access your camera" under Settings because last time camera worked, I did nothing to move Zoom app there.

Please send help!  Thank you!

@kcal9 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are getting NoCameraAttached message

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03430151 Webcam Troubleshooting (Windows 10)
