HP TrueVision HD camera  stopped working months ago. I haven't been able to resolve. Appears the driver was deleted. I noticed it in March after a software update

See if you can either roll back the "driver update" or else find a restore point from when the camera was last working.  You might also run UEFI diagnostics just to verify it is not an actual hardware problem.

please run those F2 (bios) diagnostics first to verify that the webcam works before checking to see if the problem is Windows
Does the camera show up in the device manager? Bring up the Windows device manager and try rolling back the camera driver. Possibly a Windows update installed the wrong driver.

Did you try rolling back the camera driver?

It could be the camera driver or the USB driver if the camera is connected to the USB. Many internal cameras are connected to the USB.

In the pictures below you would select the camera driver and then look for 'rollback' If the word "rollback" is grayed out then uninstall it.

If camera driver is the problem

If the problem is the wrong USB driver for the camera

If you cannot rollback the driver then try to find the best one or let windows try. One way is to just uninstall the camera and reboot as described in this official HP document..

If uninstalling or rolling back did not work then see if there is a windows restore point that has a date from when the camera last worked.

This video describes how to use a restore point.

Alternately enter restore in the windows search bar. Let me know if this works.
