Hi @Magesh_S
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP TrueVision 5 MP camera is not working, and you've already updated the device driver, there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to try and fix the issue. Here are some methods to help you resolve the problem:
1. Check for Privacy Settings
Many modern laptops, including HP devices, have privacy settings that can disable the camera for security reasons. Here’s how to check if the camera has been disabled in your privacy settings:
On Windows 10/11:
- Open Settings: Press Windows + I to open the Settings menu.
- Go to Privacy: Navigate to Privacy & Security (or just Privacy on Windows 10).
- Camera Access: In the left pane, under App Permissions, select Camera.
- Enable Camera Access: Make sure that Camera access for this device is turned on. Also, ensure that apps you're trying to use (like Zoom, Teams, etc.) have permission to access the camera.
2. Restart Windows Camera App
If the camera isn't working in a specific app, try using the Windows Camera app to check if the problem is app-specific.
To test with Windows Camera:
- Open the Start menu, type "Camera" and press Enter.
- Check if the camera works in the Camera app. If it does, the issue may be with the specific app you're trying to use.
3. Check Device Manager
Even though you've updated the camera driver, sometimes the camera may be disabled in the Device Manager, or there could be a conflict. Here’s how to check:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Find the Imaging Devices section, then expand it.
- Right-click on your HP TrueVision 5 MP Camera and select Enable device (if it’s disabled).
- If it's enabled, try uninstalling the device: Right-click on the camera, select Uninstall device, then restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver upon reboot.
- Alternatively, you can try rolling back the driver if the update might have caused the issue:
- Right-click the camera in Device Manager > Properties > Driver tab > Roll Back Driver (if available).
4. Check for Windows Updates
Sometimes, issues with hardware (including cameras) can be resolved through the latest Windows updates. Make sure your system is fully updated:
- Open Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
