My webcam video is blurry. I have uninstalled in from Device Manager the rebooted. I've tried using both Windows an HP diagnostics. I put a ring light shining on my face and the video display is still blurry.

Hi @BlueAmerican67,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the HP TrueVision FHD webcam is producing a blurry image, and you have already reinstalled the camera through Device Manager and tested both Windows and HP diagnostics. Since additional lighting did not improve the image, let's check a few more things before determining whether this may be hardware-related.

Gently clean the camera lens with a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth and make sure there is no protective film or residue over the lens.

Open the Windows Camera app and check whether the image is blurry there as well. This helps determine whether the issue is specific to a particular application.

If your model supports camera settings, check whether any zoom or image-quality settings are affecting the image.

Run HP Support Assistant > Updates and install any applicable camera, graphics, BIOS, or other recommended updates for your exact model.

If the image remains consistently blurry in the Windows Camera app and HP diagnostics after these checks, please provide the exact HP laptop model/product number and let us know whether the camera has always been blurry or whether it became blurry recently.

If possible, a screenshot/photo of the camera image would also help us determine the nature of the blur.

I've done just about everything. I cannot locate settings that adjust the focus. I have attached a snip of the camera quality with a ring light on.Screenshot 2026-10-05 184158.png

Hi @BlueAmerican67,

Thank you for providing the product number and the camera sample.

Since you have already reinstalled the camera, tested it through Windows and HP diagnostics, and confirmed that additional lighting does not improve the image, I don't recommend repeating those steps.

For your HP Pavilion 16-af0000 (9R8T6UA#ABA), I recommend having the camera hardware inspected by an HP-authorized service center.
