We can't get our Macs with M1/M2/M3 on Macos Sonoma to work with the HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2 anymore.

Hi @PatrikNorlander,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re having trouble with the HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2 and Macs running macOS Sonoma. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Update macOS and Firmware:

  • Ensure that your Mac is running the latest version of macOS Sonoma. Sometimes, updating to the latest version can resolve compatibility issues.
  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for the HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2. Visit the HP support website to see if any updates are available.

Check Dock Compatibility:

  • Verify that the dock is compatible with macOS Sonoma. Sometimes, specific versions of macOS may have compatibility issues with certain hardware.

Reconnect the Dock:

  • Unplug the dock from your Mac and power source. Wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. This can sometimes reset the connection and resolve issues.

Check Connections and Ports:

  • Make sure all cables are securely connected and that there are no visible signs of damage. Try different USB-C ports on your Mac if available.

Reset the Dock:

  • Some docks have a reset function. Refer to the dock’s manual or HP’s support website to see if there is a reset procedure.

Check System Preferences:

  • Go to System Preferences > Displays to see if the external monitors are detected. If not, try System Preferences > Dock & Menu Bar to ensure the dock is recognized.

Test with Another Device:

  • If possible, connect the dock to another Mac or PC to determine if the issue is with the dock or the Mac itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

What I can see in this file, Sonoma isn't supported on Dock G2. Do you mean that it can work anyway?

Hi @PatrikNorlander,

Thank you for your response,

The HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2 is not officially supported on macOS Sonoma, which means you might encounter compatibility issues or limited functionality. However, many users have reported that some features may still work, such as basic connectivity and peripheral support, even if certain advanced features or settings are unavailable.

If the dock works for your needs despite not being officially supported, you may not need to replace all the docking stations. It might be worth testing a few in your office with the M2 Macs to see how they perform before making any decisions. If you do run into significant issues, considering newer docks specifically designed for macOS compatibility might be the best route.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
