I have just purchased a HP USB-C Dock G5 to use with my HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-dh1xxx laptop. I am attempting to connect 2 Dell 24" monitors to the docking station. Both monitors have HDMI ports. Individually I can connect directly to the laptop's HDMI connection and each monitor was recognized and capable of setting up, but when connecting either of the monitors to the HDMI port on the docking station the monitor is not recognized. I also had purchased a HDMI to Display port convertor to try and connect these monitors to the either of the 2 display ports on the docking station, but this does not work either. I have made sure the firmware for the docking station is up to date. and using the HP Support Assistant the laptop software drivers and firmware are also up to date. Is there any other things I can try to fix this issue?

Hi @Retiredatlast,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're facing an issue with your HP USB-C Dock G5 not properly recognizing the Dell monitors connected via HDMI, or through the HDMI-to-DisplayPort converter. Here are a few troubleshooting steps and suggestions to help resolve the issue:
1. Check the Cable and Port Connections
- Double-check the HDMI cables and make sure they are not damaged. Try using different HDMI cables to rule out the possibility of a faulty cable.
- Confirm that the USB-C cable from the dock is properly connected to your HP Pavilion x360.
- If you're using the HDMI to DisplayPort converter, ensure that it’s a bidirectional converter (some only work in one direction), as this could be the reason it isn’t working.
2. Try Different Monitor Inputs
- If your Dell monitors have multiple input options, such as HDMI, DisplayPort, or VGA, make sure that the monitors are set to the correct input corresponding to the cable you're using from the dock.
- Check if the monitors detect a signal when connected to the HDMI port directly on the laptop. This will confirm that the issue is with the dock rather than the monitors themselves.
3. Check Display Settings on Windows
- Right-click on your desktop and select Display settings.
- Under the Multiple displays section, click on Detect to see if Windows recognizes the monitors connected through the dock.
- If the monitors appear here, try configuring the display settings (extend, duplicate, or second screen only).
4. Check the HP USB-C Dock G5 for Power Issues
- Make sure that your HP USB-C Dock G5 is receiving enough power. If the dock is not receiving enough power, it might not be able to properly drive the connected displays. Ensure that the dock's power supply is plugged in and working.
I hope this helps.
