HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi Folks,

I recently bought a HP USB-C Essential Dock G5 and it works as expected for the most part (please see below). I have it connected to the laptop via the USB’C’ port.- My laptop is an HP Pavilion Laptop 14-bk1

I cannot get my Monitor connected via the HDMI port. It just doesn’t seem to recognize it? The monitor is an HP 27w and it works if connected directly to the laptop HDMI port.

Also the laptop does not charge when connected to the docking station, so I need to also plug in the laptop charger. Is that to be expected?

I wonder if I am missing some drivers, or if there is another way that I should be connecting the monitor?

Many thanks for any help or pointers?

@CraigRalphs

The main thing is: What is your computer ? Are they compatible ?

Regards.

Hi - thanks for responding….

I am using an HP Pavilion Laptop 14-bk1

but I have seen other posts now on this topic and no, despite the price it will not charge via the USB C port, not will it work with a HDMI interface for my monitor which is all a bit disappointing.. it seems I have bought a very expensive USB hub 😟
