Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s1000 (90P69AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have been using the Asus fx505dy 2019 model and never faced any issue with it. It is a 60Hz display panel and I can use it for hours long without the slightest discomfort in my eyes.

I just bought an HP Victus Gaming Laptop 16-s1023dx and my eyes get tired from the monitor after 10 minutes. Can you tell me if it's the drivers or Windows 11?

Hi @ValeriiKrykun,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Make sure the display settings are optimized for comfort:

Refresh Rate:

  • Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
  • Scroll down and click on "Advanced display settings."
  • Ensure the refresh rate is set to 144Hz but consider temporarily setting it to 60Hz to see if it reduces eye strain.

Brightness and Contrast:

  • Reduce the brightness and adjust the contrast to a comfortable level.

Enable Blue Light Filter

  • Night Light in Windows 11:
    • Open Settings > System > Display.
    • Toggle the Night light switch to "On."
    • Click on "Night light settings" to adjust the strength and schedule of the filter.

Update Drivers in Windows:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Expand the "Display adapters" section.
  • Right-click on your graphics card and select "Update driver."

Visit Manufacturer’s Website: Go to the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your specific model.

Adjust Display Resolution

Ensure the display resolution is set to the recommended setting for your laptop:

  • Display Resolution Settings:
    • Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
    • Check and set the resolution to the recommended setting for your laptop.

Use Calibration Tools

Use built-in tools to calibrate the display:

  • Download and install HP Display Center from the Microsoft Store:
    • This software allows you to control and calibrate your monitor settings for better display performance and user comfort.
    • Follow the calibration steps to adjust color profile and gamma settings.

I hope this helps.

I tried all the listed methods, and nothing helped, I went to the service center, gave the laptop for diagnostics, tried to connect an external monitor, the problem remained, my guess is that the defect is not in the display, but in the motherboard or video adapter. To be honest, I'm shocked.

Hi @ValeriiKrykun,

Thank you so much for the update.

I'm really sorry to hear that the issue is still unresolved even after trying all the suggested steps. Since you've already submitted the laptop at the service center, you're definitely on the right path.

I genuinely hope the technicians are able to identify the root cause and get it fixed for you as soon as possible.

Wishing you a quick and smooth resolution
