Hello this has been happening to me for like almost a month now i've tried everything i could find out on the internet to solve this but i think i need to uninstall and reinstall the camera's drivers but i cant seem to find a link or any download file for it 😕
i also think that this was caused by me keeping my camera always deactivated in the device manager section for my own privacy.
I've tried to remove the device from device manager and restarted my computer
Updated windows
Tried hp hardware diagnostics but none of them solved my problem.
what am i supposed to do? i'd really appreciate if a real human being could help me out to solve this problem cause i need to use my camera.

@pampurin, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
You can download the correct camera driver for your Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 directly from HP official support page:
HP Support - Drivers & Software for Victus 15-fa0000
Here's how to proceed:
- Visit the link above.
- Select your operating system (Windows 11 should be auto-detected).
- Scroll down to the "Driver-Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices" or "Driver - Camera" section.
- Look for HP Wide Vision HD Camera Driver or similar.
- Download and install the driver.
- Restart your laptop after installation.
Additional Tips:
- If the camera still doesn’t work, try enabling it again in Device Manager:
- Press Win + X → Select Device Manager.
- Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
- Right-click your camera → Enable device (if disabled).
- Also, check Privacy Settings:
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
- Make sure camera access is turned on for apps and the system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

@pampurin, Thank you for your response.
Please follow these steps,
Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)
This checks if the camera hardware is functioning:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select Component Tests > Camera and run the test.
If the test fails, it's likely a hardware issue.
Manually Install Generic Windows Camera Driver
Since HP doesn’t list a specific camera driver for your model, try this workaround:
- Open Device Manager.
- Right-click your camera under Imaging Devices or Cameras.
- Select Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list.
- Choose USB Video Device and click Next.
This installs the generic Windows camera driver, which often works when OEM drivers are missing.
Check Windows Optional Updates
Sometimes camera drivers are hidden in optional updates:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.
- Look under Driver updates and install anything related to imaging or USB devices.
I hope this helps!
If my response resolves your issue, please click “Accepted Solution” to help others find the answer. Also, don’t forget to click the “Yes” button to say thanks!
Take care and have a great day.

I've tried the component test and it said it has passed the test but still doesnt work or anything
I've also done this aswell >"Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list."
Checked the windows update too but there weren't anything related to driver updates its all so frustrating i dont know what's causing it to not work it has not been damaged + was working perfectly fine almost a month ago is there anything i can do to maybe still fix it?
