Hello,
My laptop is brand new, its clean from all the sides so am sure the lens is not dirty or anything, but I still cleaned it, but still when I use the Camera app in windows 10, the quality is bad, there is a bit of blurriness and like light dark shadow moving, but when I take the picture its not there, but the quality is still bad and its a little blurred, I dont know how to exactly explain it, maybe the camera is like that by default? But as in the specs the camera is 720p 30 fps, I expected it to have a way better quality than this.
The drivers are up to date, I dont know what to do.
I have tried Cyberlink Youcam 7, same problem happens. Is the normal camera of Hp pavilion 14-al105ne like this or is there something wrong with my laptop.
Thank you.

You’ve done an excellent job on diagnosing the issue from your end. Superb effort and spectacular research were done as well. 🙂 Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 . I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

I have updated my BIOS, its the latest version available on HP website.
I have checked with other online websites that lets you test your camera, its the same thing.
Regarding the drivers, before uninstalling and reinstalling I went to check in the driver in HP Recovery Manger just incase, I couldn't find any driver related to a webcam.
So am not sure what I should uninstall and from where to install it.
There is a driver called HP Wide Vision HD, is that it? under Imaging devices.

Hi @7asho0m,
I read the quick response. You've done great by displaying remarkable patience great temperament and excellent analysis to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂
Try uninstalling the Wide HP Wide Vision HD from imaging devices and try to install the driver from recovery manager.
If this does not work, please perform a Microsoft push button reset from this link: http://hp.care/2g0Tjzs; and then check again. THis should do the trick for you. It does not cause data loss.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thank you for the quick response, however as I mentioned there is no driver related to the webcam in the recovery manager, also no driver for it listed in the website:
Is there no driver the webcam my laptop has? My driver is dated to 2006, version 10.0.15063.447
It is the latest driver available at the moment, why is it outdated for more than a decade? Its a disappoinment honestly for something like this in a brand new 2017 laptop, I hope there is something to do.
Thank you.

Hi @7asho0m,
I reviewed the case. Thanks for the quick response. This is a generic driver provided by Microsoft for the Webcam. Please be informed that the Webcam is not manufactured by HP. HP puts together the parts and components supplied to us by the original manufacturers. HP only builds computers under its brand name. If the original Manufacturer had updated the drivers for the Web Camera it would have made its way to the HP support site a long time ago. Also, the fact that it has not been updated by anyone suggests that it is a very robust and workable driver that works even today without hassles.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

I got tired of fighting with the quality of the built-in webcamera (both video and audio are abismal), so here's what I did. https://youtu.be/8hK0lWU6fZk
