HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-e2000 (2J4W0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Greetings,

I am trying to setup my brand new HP laptop (model : ef2030ca) to work with two external monitors. I plugged the first monitor in the HDMI output of the laptop and it runs fine.

For the second monitor, I want to use a Dell DA200 USB-C adapter (which provides an additional HDMI port, as well as RJ-45, USB 3 and VGA ports). However, the second monitor, plugged in the HDMI port of the DA200 adapter, displays nothing. I know the adapter works because the HDMI port works with another PC. Also, when using the DA200 on my new PC, the adapter's RJ-45 and USB 3 both work fine.

Is there a setting that I missed, that would allow me to use a second external monitor on my laptop ? If I can't get it to work, it might be a deal-breaker. I would hate to have to return it, I love the laptop otherwise...

Regards,

Adrien

The specs of your machine is

               https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c07657019

It ONLY has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter

If you wish to connect 2 external monitors(only), you can use

M1: HDMI direct cable

M2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

            https://www.amazon.com.au/CableCreation-Adapter-Windows-Compatible-2560x1440/dp/B013G4CJM8

For more connectivity, please use

                            True Universal Docking Stations

Regards.
