HP envy all-in-one touchscreen
I purchased my HP envy all-in-one touchscreen desktop March 2016, it started acting up a couple of months ago, the touch screen was identified as the culprit causing the mouse and keyboard to not function. I was able to manually turn off the touch screen and it worked properly. Each time the system is powered down the touchscreen restarts and the problem resumes rendering the keyboard and mouse in operable. The tech-support people Best Buy where I purchased the machine indicated the only fix would be to replace the entire screen is it more than likely is a hardware issue. They also indicated it would likely be very costly, projected around $700. Are there any other fixes to my issue? And If not, will HP stand behind this machine ?Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP All in one. I understand that you are getting touchscreen issues and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well.

Attempt to run a test using the HP hardware diagnostic tool

If the Touch screen isn't appearing on the diagnostics,

I recommend checking if the Touch is working on BIOS (Accessed by tapping on F10 while restarting the computer).

If it works on bios, it's a software issue: please reinstall windows using the recovery partition or the recovery media to fix the issue

If it doesn't work on BIOS either, it's a hardware failure and you may need to Contact HP to set up a hardware repair service.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

Same problem, and now cannot sign on because the mouse and keyboard are not functioning properly. I see where this is a recurring problem with the all in one touchscreen models, and again I was disappointed by the geek squad‘s insistence that it is more than likely a hardware issue and that there is nothing they can do to remedy my problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have had this problem with the touch screen and the cursor seems to be drawn to the bottom left corner of the screen and starts to click erratically.  This even manages to make log-on very tricky but I managed to log on, go to device manager and uninstall the touch screen driver.  Problem is if you shut down, next time you start up the system re-installs the driver and the problem is as before.

Does anyone know a way of completely de-activating the touch screen, since I have found it of very little use anyway?
