Hello,

I am hoping that someone can help resolve an issue I have with my laptop being in 'tablet mode' when I enter games.  I have had the computer over 6 months and have not done any upgrades/software changes in last 4 months.  2 days ago I was playing a game and went out to desktop, at this time I accidently pressed the 'tablet mode on' which I then turned to table mode off.  The next time I went into the game (or any game), the games are reconfigured to tablet mode with the key bindings no longer working but there being icons on the screen.  I contacted micrsoft and they remoted into the lap, updated the drivers and even had me reboot the computer in safe mode.  And run a couple checks.

At this point I have also done a full system restore wiping all saved data.  Updated all drivers.  Followed some advice on these forums to possible fixes.  Yet the problem still persists, when I enter a game it thinks the device is a tablet.  I have checked game forums and posted to find out that the issue I am experience is isolated to my account.  I would appreciate any advice that might help resolve this issue.  Thank you in advance.

Michael

Welcome to HP support community.

Double check if the tablet mode is set to off.

  • Click or tap the Start button
  • Launch the Settings app
  • Click or tap on "System"
  • In the left pane of the screen, scroll down to the bottom until you see "Tablet Mode"
  • Verify that the toggle is set to off.

If the issue still persists, try re-installing the OS using the media creation tool:- Click here

Let me know if that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Hello Sandy,

I don't have a toggle switch.  Options are two drag down menus.

When I sign in:  Use tablet mode/Use desktop mode/Use the appropriate mode for my hardward

When this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off: Don't ask and don't switch/Always ask before switching/Don't ask me and always switch.

I tried to re-install the media creation tool and got error:   This PC cannot run windows (error code  0xc1900201)

Thank you,

-Michael
