@milimani, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble with your HP True Vision HD webcam on Windows 10 (64-bit). Let's walk through some steps to get it working again.
Check Webcam Privacy Settings
Some HP laptops have a physical webcam privacy switch or shutter key:
- Look for a switch near the webcam or on the sides of your laptop.
- If there's a shutter key on your keyboard (usually with a camera icon), press it (sometimes with the Fn key) to toggle the webcam on/off.
Use the Camera App
- Press Windows + S and type Camera.
- Open the Camera app.
- If it shows video, your webcam is working.
- If not, proceed to the next steps.
Reinstall or Update Webcam Driver
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices.
- Right-click on HP TrueVision HD and choose:
- Uninstall device → Restart your PC → Windows should reinstall it automatically.
- Or choose Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
If the camera still doesn't work, try downloading the latest drivers from HP or Windows Update.
Perform a Hard Reset
Sometimes a power reset helps Windows detect hardware:
- Shut down your laptop.
- Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect power and turn on the laptop.
Check Antivirus or Privacy Settings
Some antivirus software may block webcam access. Try temporarily disabling it or check its webcam protection settings.
Also, go to:
- Settings > Privacy > Camera
- Ensure Camera access for this device is ON.
- Scroll down and make sure apps like Camera, Zoom, etc., have permission.
