I have an HP Laptop (8QW25PA#ABG) several years old now and suddenly the right half of the screen stopped siplaying properly. I checked it wasnt software related etc and then assumed the actual screen, or half of it, had just deteriorated and wasnt working any more. UNTIL I saw on the HP Support profile thing that there was an update outstanding - BIOS related?? so i ran the update and magically when the laptop rebooted the screen was great across both halves. Thought the matter was solved till the next day i logged in and I was back to a bad right hand side. It makes me think though that its not a physical screen issue if it was able to display properly again for a time??

Would attach the graphics details of the laptop but cant see how to attach a file. Could add as a photo if it would help?

I have no idea abouit anything technological and would really appreciate any suggestions.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting display issues on the notebook I am glad to assist you.

Update the Bios, chipset, and drivers using HP Support Assistant.

Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here

  • HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
  • Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  • Click Updates in the My notebook pane
  • Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  • Updates list in HP Support Center
  • Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  • Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  • Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

  • Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks so much for your time and effort Sandy. Really appreciate it.

As I mentioned in my post, it was running the BIOS update that improved it temporarily and suggested to me  that it wasn’t a screen hardware issue but the next time it was turned on it was back to 1/2 blurry despite no updates outstanding.
