Product Name: HP Laptop 15s-fr2508TU
Operating System: Windows 10

Problem Description:

Hello,
I’ve been using my HP Laptop 15s-fr2508TU since around October 2022. Today, while I was using it for my studies, the battery was low (around 9%). I stepped away for just a few seconds, and when I returned, I saw that one half of the screen was distorted — it turned white and blurry with vertical lines and an ink-like black patch near the bottom corner.

The other half of the screen is still working normally and displays everything properly.

Out of panic, I pressed the power button and the screen went black for a moment, but after charging and restarting the laptop, it turned on again — with the same issue: half the screen works fine, but the other half is not displaying properly.

There has been no physical damage, no drop, no pressure, and I always handle the laptop carefully. There are no cracks or scratches on the screen at all.

Please help me understand what the issue could be and whether it’s covered under service options or can be repaired. I’m a student and urgently need this laptop for academic work, so I’d really appreciate your assistance.

Thank you

Hi @Pixelpanic,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks so much for reaching out — I’m sorry to hear about the display issue with your HP Laptop 15s-fr2508TU. I completely understand how concerning this must be, especially when your laptop is essential for your studies.

Based on your description — one half of the screen displaying vertical lines, a black "ink-like" patch, and the other half working fine — this strongly suggests a hardware issue with the LCD panel itself.

Please share the image of the screen to help you better, so I can try to find more help.

Take care and have a good day.
