Hi everyone ~ I’m in a bind. Cursor won’t work when I click on Microsoft Edge.

Nothing happens. I can’t do any work. I’m so frustrated. I’ve shut it down completely ( by pressing power button & escape). It won’t click on power icon on my screen to shut off. Please help. Thank you.

Hi @CharMari,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP laptop's cursor not responding when you click on Microsoft Edge. Let's try some troubleshooting steps to resolve this.

  • Restart your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor software glitches. Press and hold the power button until your laptop shuts down completely, then turn it back on after a few seconds.
  • Check for Updates: Ensure that your operating system and Microsoft Edge are up-to-date. Sometimes, issues like these can be resolved by installing the latest updates.
  • Update Drivers: Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause various issues. Go to the Device Manager, locate the mouse or touchpad drivers, right-click, and select "Update driver."
  • Run Hardware Diagnostics: Your laptop might have built-in diagnostics tools. You can access them during startup (usually by pressing a specific key like F2 or F12) and run tests to check if there are any hardware issues.
  • Check for Malware: Malware can sometimes interfere with system functionality. Run a thorough antivirus scan to ensure your system is clean.
  • Try a Different Browser: If the issue persists only with Microsoft Edge, try using a different browser like Chrome or Firefox to see if the problem is specific to Edge.
  • Safe Mode: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If the problem doesn't occur in Safe Mode, it's likely caused by a third-party software or driver.
  • System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a point before it occurred using System Restore.

Hopefully, one of these steps resolves the issue and gets your laptop back to working order.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
