In July of this year, I purchased an HP Envy x360 2-in-1 Laptop 15t-fe000, 15.6", which came with an HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen. Early this month (November) I accidentally cracked the pen. So I ordered a new one. When I got the new one it did not properly magnetize to my laptop. Only one magnet will connect leaving the pen just loose. Also when I opened the HP Pen Control Plus app it said the new pen is incompatible. I really do not understand what the problem is, I would really like to fix this without buying a new pen.

Hi @Christopher_D1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing compatibility and magnetization issues with the new HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen that you purchased. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problems.
-
Check Compatibility:
- Verify that the new pen is indeed compatible with your HP Envy x360 2-in-1 Laptop. Check the product specifications and make sure it supports the MPP 2.0 technology.
-
Update Drivers and Firmware:
- Ensure that your laptop has the latest drivers and firmware updates installed. Visit the official HP support website for your laptop model and download any available updates for the pen or touch input.
-
Check Battery:
- Confirm that the new pen has a fully charged battery. If it uses replaceable batteries, ensure they are correctly installed.
-
Reconnect the Pen:
- Remove the new pen from the Bluetooth devices list on your laptop and then reconnect it. Follow the pairing instructions in the user manual or the HP support website.
-
Magnetic Attachment:
- Make sure there is no debris or obstruction preventing the pen from securely magnetizing to the laptop. Clean the magnetized area and the pen itself.
-
Compatibility with HP Pen Control Plus:
- Double-check that the HP Pen Control Plus app is updated to the latest version.
-
Return or Exchange:
- If the pen is still under warranty or if you recently purchased it, you may consider returning or exchanging it for a replacement, especially if it's identified as incompatible.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
