When opening my laptop, I heard a horrible crunching noise and saw the screen separating from the metal body of the laptop (right side) and the metal hinge popped out of the screen. It looks like the plastic holding in the screwed melted and the screw fell out.
This laptop stays on my desk connected to two monitors. I work from home so I rarely move my monitor off of my desk. (I have a baby so sometimes i take it downstairs to work when I don't have childcare.)
I read through others posts and looks like a common design defect.
Will HP repair my laptop? I feel like HP should replace it since I didnt do anything to cause this issue.
This looks like a design defect that HP should cover.
With a baby, I cant afford to replace my laptop right now.

Hi @melissaJR,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that this is a Hardware issue. But the support here is limited to software troubleshooting. However, since the unit might need repair, I would request you to contact HP Phone support who would have an option to schedule a repair as per the warranty and the issue can be fixed.
For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.
Please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
