I keep getting a blank error message when I try using fn + f5-f6 to adjust my screen brightness. There're no previous versions to revert back to. I've tried restoring my computer, but there are no previous restore points. I've tried resetting my laptop, but there's no way to factory reset it.

No, you don't need to press Fn key, just simply F5 or F6

 

Fn+F5 will reload a page (for internet)
