I was trying to pair a stylus with my computer and dowloaded a driver update from HP. The update deleted my touchscreen driver completely and now the touchscreen doesn't work at all.

I know it is the driver because I had a professional look at it and that is what they said was wrong.

Welcome to HP support community.

Provide the complete model number or the product number of the notebook?

Meanwhile:

Download and run HP support assistant to update the drivers automatically.

Refer this HP document for the steps to use HPSA:- Click here

Let me know how it goes.

The support assistant does not recognize this as a problem it just assumes that the computer was never touchscreen compatible.

The product number is: W0U47AV

Check in BIOS if the touchscreen is working or not.

  • Turn off the computer, press the power button, and then repeatedly press the Esc key until the Startup Menu opens. Press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

If that works then update BIOS, Chipset and graphics card driver from this link:- Click here

Let me know if that works.

It's Not the BIOS, although I updated the BIOS.

This is the problem as it was explained to me:

When i go into the device manager under Human Interface Devices there should be one labelled HID-compliant touch screen; however that program is completely missing. Is there a way to reinstall it?

If you have checked in BIOS and if that works fine in BIOS.

Then run Windows update troubleshooter to fix this issue.

Refer this document to run the troubleshooter:- Click here

I hope that helps.
