My son has a Pavilion 14-bk000 and is trying to get video out from the USB-C port. he has tried two different USB-C multifunction adaptors, this being the second - https://www.amazon.co.uk/FITFORT-DUAL-Display-Aluminum-Ethernet-Compatible/dp/B07MKC5Z1D/ref=sr_1_9. The device is recognised when plugged in and the USB works for things like the mouse and USB pen drives but we can got no video out of either device (the first one has been returned). Is there any software which needs to be installed to push video out through the hub to either the HDMI or D-SUB connector. Do we have a faulty USB-C port on the laptop or am I missing something?

Hello
I read the user guide at link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05636692
and it's writtehn that some configurations has a basic USB-C (so it doesn't support video signal and you can't recharge the battery via USB-C) and some other configurations has an USB-C Video Alternate mode, this means you can use USB-C-to-HDMI adapter and recharge the battery via USB-C.
it could be that your unit has a BASIC USB-C.
So LAN connection will work , mouse and keyboard will work becasue that devices uses USB BUS, but no video signal from USB-C port.
bye
