I still have the persistent issue with my Laptop thermally throttling way too often. Now it even stutters everytime the fan turns on (and you now that happens every few minutes if you're just charging) makes even watching YouTube videos unpleasant.
The left Hinge is crooked since the first repair.
The Hinge sensor stopped working after the second repair. Losing the tablet mode completely, since there is no manual switch.
The third repair could fix the Hinge Sensor just halfway, the second part of the Sensor couldn't be replaced due to the part being country specific (4-8 weeks delivery time).
The Mainboard was replaced all three times, none of those fixed the issue with the Laptop thermally throttling.

Now my question is, how many more "Repairs" do I have to endure or is there an option for a refund or replacement.
It's really annoying. It is an expensive Laptop with none of the expensive features now.

Hi @Timo36,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can understand why you’re feeling this way. After multiple repairs and still facing the same issues, it’s really frustrating, especially with a device at this level.

From what you’ve described, this isn’t just one isolated problem:

  • Repeated thermal throttling is affecting performance
  • Hinge alignment issue after repair
  • Hinge sensor not functioning correctly, impacting tablet mode
  • Multiple mainboard replacements without resolution

That’s clearly not the experience you should be having.

About next steps (repair vs replacement)

At this stage, when:

  • The same issue persists after multiple repairs, and
  • Core functionality (like tablet mode and performance) is affected

The case usually needs to be reviewed at a higher level for possible:

  • Replacement, or
  • Alternative resolution (depending on region and policy)

Let’s get this checked properly

Could you please share the following details with me in private:

  • Case / repair number(s)
  • Serial number of the laptop
  • Any recent service updates or job sheets

Once I have those details, I’ll:

  • Review the repair history
  • Check why the issue is still unresolved
  • Try to get this escalated to the relevant team for a more permanent solution

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
