I'm trying to disable palm sensitivity on this laptop. It's very annoying since it prevents me from using the touchpad for a short amount of time right after typing. I looked online and it says that apparently I have to look into device settings after clicking the "Mouse" menu in the Control Panel, but I don't see any tab that says device settings after I click the Mouse menu that was spoken of. Therefore I can't seem to be able to access the Synaptics menu like I have been able to on other Windows devices. Any help on this issue would be very much appreciated!

@drmoonrock
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8.
BIOS default:
- Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
- Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
- Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
Next, uninstall Touchpad device from device manager.
- Right-click on the Start or Windows icon and open the "Device Manager".
- Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices".
- Right-click on the "Synaptics TouchPad".
- Restart your PC for the change to take effect. After restarting. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
- Do not perform any manual upgrades to the driver until it does automatically.
Once it's done then try to adjust the touchpad sensitivity.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

That didn't seem to work. I didn't see Windows attempt to reinstall the driver automatically as I restarted the second time. I also tried bringing the sensitivity to minimum in the Windows 10 touchpad settings. That didn't seem to work either.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
- Open Control Panel -> Mouse.
- Click on the TouchPad Settings tab, then on ClickPad Settings.
- Double Click "SmartSense"
- Slide the Slider all the way to "Off"
- Click Close and OK.
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
Cheers!

I just did that and now neither my keyboard nor touchpad respond to any physical input. I'm literally remote connecting to a laptop that's right in front of me via Teamviewer because my keyboard and touchpad are now disabled apparently.

Thank you for posting back.
I am glad to know that the mouse and keyboard issue is resolved. Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Let's uninstall Touchpad device from device manager.
- Press Windows+X to open the menu, and choose Device Manager on it.
- In the device manager, expand category "Mice and other pointing devices".
- Under this category, right-click on your Synaptics Touchpad driver and click on Uninstall.
- You may be required to confirm the uninstallation. Check the box next to "Delete the driver software for this device" and click OK button.
- Restart your PC for the change to take effect. After restarting. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
- Do not perform any manual upgrades to the driver until it does automatically
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I literally just did that as per your instruction. Trying these steps is what caused all input devices to stop working until I reinstalled the drivers using Teamviewer, since having no access to any of the input devices left me with no other means to do it.
