I would like to disable display auto rotation on my Spectre 360 14" with Windows 11 because I do not use tablet mode. Moving the laptop around sometimes auto rotates the screen and changes the window size which is annoying. Settings>System>Display>Rotation lock is greyed out. I have tried to disable autorotation by changing the "enable" registry key value without success.

Hi @Chilihound,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To disable screen auto-rotation on your HP Spectre x360 14" with Windows 11, especially since the "Rotation lock" option is greyed out, follow these steps.
Check Tablet Mode Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Tablet.
- Ensure that Tablet Mode is set to Don’t switch to tablet mode.
Update Your Display Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select Device Manager).
- Expand Display adapters and Sensors.
- Right-click your display adapter and sensor devices, then select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers and follow the prompts.
Disable Auto-Rotation via Group Policy Editor (for Pro and Enterprise versions):
- Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
- Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Tablet PC.
- Look for “Enable auto-rotation” and set it to Disabled.
Disable Auto-Rotation via the Registry (for Home versions):
- Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
- Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation.
- Find and set the Enable DWORD value to 0.
Disable Auto-Rotation Using a Third-Party Tool:
- If none of the above methods work, you might try a third-party utility like AutoRotate or Screen Auto Rotation apps available online, which allow you to control screen rotation more precisely.
After trying these steps, restart your computer to ensure changes take effect.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
