Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see that your experiencing issue with drag and drop using the Chromebook touchpad:
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Is this first time your trying to use drag and drop options?
- When was the last time it worked fine?
While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
To drag and drop using the Chromebook touchpad:
- Click the item you want to move with one finger.
- With a second finger, move the item.
- Release both fingers to drop the item at its new location.
In other words, Click and hold the item you want to move. While holding, move the item. Release your finger to drop the item at its new location.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Thanks for your reply.
It is a new computer, so it has never worked that way for me.
I tried your solution to no avail.
Just to be clear, here is what I tried:
In the LAUNCHER I am able to drag and drop an icon by just placing one finger on the touch screen on the icon and slide it around.
In the TouchPad I tried placing the cursor over the icon - lift my one finger and then touch and hold with one finger, then place the second finger on the touch pad (still holding the first finger in place) and try to drag both fingers. The cursor and icon stay frozen in one place and then the LAUNCHER closes when I lift my two fingers.
Did I really do what you said to do?
I was a little more explicit in my discription of my actions than your description - does that sound correct to you
