Hi @Mama_Liz1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you are experiencing a black screen issue on your HP Stream Laptop, try the following steps to fix the problem.

  • Disconnect all peripherals: Remove any external devices, such as USB drives or printers, that are connected to your laptop. Then, try turning on your laptop to see if the black screen issue persists.
  • Perform a hard reset: Turn off your laptop and unplug it from the power source. Then, remove the battery (if possible) and hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds. Reinsert the battery (if removed) and plug in the power adapter. Finally, turn on your laptop to see if the black screen issue is resolved.
  • Connect to an external display: Connect your laptop to an external display, such as a TV or monitor, using an HDMI cable. Then, turn on your laptop and see if the external display shows anything. If it does, there may be an issue with the laptop's screen, and it may need to be replaced.
  • Check for BIOS updates: Check if there are any available BIOS updates for your laptop on the HP website. If there are, download and install the update as instructed. This can sometimes fix black screen issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
