My computer us a windows 11. so I have had my compuuter for a hot minute. So when I try to use my search or when I try to tap something the screen takes a mind of its own. When I use the search bar it (computer) will the bar with lots of spaces. Its like I just keep hitting the space bar. When I try to hit a button it would spam and keep hitting the button. I would try to switch something off, then it would just keep turning it on and off. Also the letter ‘H’ and my backspace key wont work. So now I can't search or hit buttons without it glitching out. My entire computer is updated to all the latest version aswell.

Hi @Jayyy3x,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
It sounds like your HP 14-cf2000 laptop is experiencing several issues related to the keyboard and possibly the touchpad or touchscreen (if it has one). Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these problems:
1. Keyboard Issues:
- External Keyboard Test: Connect an external USB keyboard to see if the issues persist. If the external keyboard works fine, the issue is likely with your laptop's built-in keyboard.
- Check for Debris: Make sure there's no dirt or debris under the keys. Gently clean the keyboard using compressed air.
- Driver Update:
- Go to Device Manager.
- Expand the Keyboards section.
- Right-click on the keyboard device and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Keyboard Reset:
- Shut down the laptop.
- Disconnect the power adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter and turn on the laptop.
2. Touchpad/Touchscreen Issues:
- Touchpad Settings:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Adjust the sensitivity settings and check if the issue persists.
- Touchscreen Calibration (if applicable):
- Go to Control Panel.
- Open Hardware and Sound > Tablet PC Settings.
- Select Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate.
- Driver Update:
- Go to Device Manager.
- Expand the Human Interface Devices and Mice and other pointing devices sections.
- Right-click on the touchpad and touchscreen devices and select Update driver.
Kindly check the next steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Jayyy3x,
3. Hardware Check:
- BIOS Update:
- Check HP's support website for any BIOS updates for your specific model. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues.
- System Diagnostics:
- Restart the laptop and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to open the System Diagnostics.
- Run the extensive tests for the keyboard and touchpad. Click here for more details.
4. Software Issues:
- Safe Mode:
- Boot into Safe Mode to see if the issues persist. If not, a third-party application might be causing the problems.
- To enter Safe Mode, press Shift while clicking Restart from the Start menu, then navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and restart. After the restart, choose Safe Mode.
- Virus/Malware Scan:
- Run a full system scan using your antivirus software to rule out any malware causing these issues.
- System Restore:
- If the issues started recently, you can try performing a System Restore to revert to a point before the problems began.
- Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection > System Restore.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify and potentially fix the issues with your HP 14-cf2000 laptop's keyboard and touchpad/screen.
If the above steps do not resolve the issues, it might be a hardware problem that requires repair. Contact HP support service/ repair options.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
