Hi @Thulieh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing the issue. I understand your HP Pen is not working, and you're not seeing any options to connect it. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and get it working again:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for HP Pen Not Connecting

1. Check Pen Compatibility

  • Make sure your HP laptop model supports active pen input (e.g., HP Spectre, ENVY x360, or Pavilion x360 with touch and pen support).
  • You can check compatibility here:
    🔗 HP Pen | HP® Support

2. Check if the Pen Uses Bluetooth

  • Not all HP pens require Bluetooth. Some use Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP) and connect automatically when you touch the screen.
  • If your pen has a Bluetooth button, it may support pairing for extra features (like shortcut buttons), but basic writing should work without pairing.

3. Enable Windows Ink Workspace

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink.
  • Make sure “Show recommended app suggestions” and “Allow apps to override the shortcut button behavior” are enabled.

4. Update Drivers

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Human Interface Devices and Bluetooth.
  • Right-click and update drivers for:
    • HID-compliant touch screen
    • Bluetooth adapter
    • Any pen-related devices

5. Test the Pen

  • Try writing directly on the screen.
  • If nothing happens, try the pen on another compatible HP device (if available) to rule out hardware failure.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
