HP ProBook 6570 B
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I travel, and have to close the laptop when ever I get up.  The Probook 6570 b stops running the program I have open and goes in to a type of "sleep" mode.   I then have to press the "on" button and re-open my programs again.

I want what ever programs I am running to keep running, so I can just go right back to work when I open the laptop.

Thanks In advance for any advice.

Select when close the lid Do Nothing (means won't sleep/hibernate) is the way to go. Please try (for Windows 7)

  • Right click battery icon,
  • Select Power Options
  • Select Choose what closing the lid does (on left panel),
  • Select Do nothing for both On battery and Plugged in,
  • Click Save changes

Regards.

Hi,

You actually would not want to choose, "do nothing" as it means the computer will keep running constantly with the lid closed which is not an ideal or good situation while travelling. You need to set it to hibernate. This way, once you start it up again it will be exactly how it was when you shut down.

Hope it helps,

David
