Hi,
You do not give the exact model of your notebook
HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Product Name or Number? | HP® Customer Support
Most likely your PC does not have DP alt mode so the "normal" USB-C to HDMI adapters will not work. You need a USB adapter with displaylink capability

Hope it helps,

You're welcome.
Your USB-C port is a regular USB 3.1 port. So it does not have direct video output (DP alt mode)
So, basically you will need to find and adapter with displaylink (which is a sort of graphics chip)
The one I linked above will run on the regular USB ports.
Hope it helps,
David
