Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Few days ago i had vertical lines on my screen but when i push the screen frame, it is fixed temporarily.

Tody my screen is gone completely. When i open the frame, i noticed one of the ribbon cable was not working properly. if i press to the cable lightly i am getting image, when i pull my finger i see only vertical lines.

The problem is, inverter is on the wrong position, and clearly they pulled and folded the ribbon cables to be able to fit the inverter.

Many prople having the same issues on their screens, and sadly it is a manufacturing defect. if you fold a ribbon cable like that, (because of the heat) it will broke sooner than expected.

You can see the folded cables in the pictures.

Sadly my warranty is ended short time ago, is there any way to fix it?

@Poserinka

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • When was the last time it worked without these issues?
  • Have you updated Graphics and Chipset drivers?
  • Have you checked the display on an external monitor?

Let’s try these steps to resolve the problem:

I recommend you attempt to access the BIOS screen by tapping on F10 while the computer is restarting,

If the issue persists in the BIOS screen which is outside windows, it would confirm a hardware failure.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

  • When was the last time it worked without these issues?       Vertical line issue happened few times after i bought the laptop, but it always fixed after a restart. week ago it stuck, restart did not help.
  • Have you updated Graphics and Chipset drivers?        Yes.
  • Have you checked the display on an external monitor?   It is working well with an external monitor, no vertical lines, no flickering.
  • And yes, screen has the same issue on the bios screen.
