Hello!
The laptop screen and keyboard stop working when I fully close the lid (I had issues . If I leave it open without closing it completely, it works without any issues. It seems like pressure is being applied somewhere, and that causes the problems.
Any help?? Thank you!

Hi @Mordhereck
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like the issue might be related to the lid sensor or internal connections being affected when the lid is fully closed. Let’s troubleshoot this step by step to identify and resolve the problem:
Step 1: Check Lid Sensor Functionality
- The lid sensor detects when the laptop is closed and may be malfunctioning. This sensor is often magnetic and located near the hinge.
- Test if the issue occurs when you gently close the lid without fully snapping it shut. If the problem persists, the sensor might be overly sensitive or misaligned.
Step 2: Update BIOS and Drivers
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your laptop model (Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000).
- Download and install the latest BIOS update and drivers, especially those related to the display and keyboard.
- Restart your laptop after the updates.
Step 3: Inspect for Physical Obstructions
- Open the laptop and inspect the hinge area for any debris or misaligned components that could be applying pressure when the lid is closed.
- If you notice anything unusual, gently clean the area with a soft brush or compressed air.
Step 4: Test in Safe Mode
- Boot your laptop into Safe Mode by pressing Shift while restarting and selecting Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- Check if the issue persists in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t, the problem might be software-related.
Step 5: Adjust Power Settings
- Press Win + I to open Settings and navigate to System > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings.
- Click Choose what closing the lid does and set it to Do Nothing for both battery and plugged-in modes.
- Save changes and test if the issue persists.
I hope these steps help you resolve the issue. Let me know how it goes or if you need further guidance! 😊

Hi!
Your comment was really helpful. It must be something related to the sensor, since all the issues started about a week ago when the laptop began going into sleep mode constantly while I was using it.
I’ve read about HP OMEN laptops having similar sensor issues, and some people have managed to fix it just by unplugging the sensor. I tried to unplug mine based on some HP OMEN sensor images I found, but I'm not sure if it's located in the same place on my model.
Could you help me figure out where it’s located? I saw in an official HP video that the sensor I just disconnected is called the IR Sensor, but I believe the one I’m supposed to disconnect is the Hall sensor, right?

Thanks for trying the suggestions.
It seems like you're on the right track with identifying the Hall sensor as the potential issue. The Hall sensor is typically responsible for detecting the laptop lid's position, which could explain the sleep mode problem you're experiencing.
