20 minutes ago I downloaded this software called CRU to overclock my hp monitor, and I tryed over clocking it to 75 hz but then the screen kept flashing so I restarted my laptop thinking it would be fixed, but then the hp logo loads completely but the screen turns black

Hey!

It seems you have gone beyond the overclocking abilities of your display.

When overclocking, go incrementally. Steps of 1hz or 2hz at a time. If screen flickers, generally good idea to lower it by 3-5 hz.

You will need to boot into safe mode, and then set the refresh rate back to the old one. Deleting CRU won't work.

You can boot into safe mode by performing these actions:

1. At the first screen on restart, before the HP or Windows logo appears, press the f8 key repeatedly.

2. When prompted, select the Safe Mode with Networking option.

3. Log onto the computer with a user account that has administrator rights.

If this does not work, you will sadly have to reinstall windows.

I do not work for HP, and am volunteering my free time. Have a nice day!
