Hi @RICHY14RICH

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems you're experiencing issues with your touchpad and cursor on your HP 14s-fq1004AU laptop, possibly due to a malfunctioning HID-compliant touchpad driver. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check if the Touchpad is Enabled

Sometimes, the touchpad might be accidentally disabled. You can enable it using the following steps:

  • Press the Fn key + F7 (or a similar combination for your model) to toggle the touchpad on/off. This is a common shortcut for HP laptops.
  • If this doesn’t work, check the Mouse settings:
    • Open Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
    • Make sure the touchpad is turned on in the settings.

2. Update or Reinstall the Touchpad Driver

The driver for the touchpad may be outdated or corrupted, leading to issues. You can try updating or reinstalling the HID-compliant touchpad driver.

Steps to Update the Driver:

  1. Open Device Manager:
    • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Find the Touchpad:
    • In Device Manager, locate the Mice and other pointing devices section.
    • Find HID-compliant touchpad (or a similar entry), right-click it, and choose Update driver.
  3. Search for Updates:
    • Select Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will check for the latest driver and install it if available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
