I am using HP 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz (2.80 GHz) with Windows 11 OS. I am able to record videos from windows camera app till yesterday. I From today when I clicked on record video button, it tried to start the recording after few seconds the whole screen turned into blank and I pressed Ctrl+D to access the laptop.

I have tried all the methods like reset camera, update the driver, uninstall reinstall camera app etc still no luck.

Hi @NavyaKottoor

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details, and I’m really sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing with the camera. I understand how frustrating this must be, especially when it was working fine until recently.

Since you've already tried key troubleshooting steps like resetting the camera, updating drivers, and reinstalling the app, let's move forward with a few additional methods that can help resolve the issue:

1. Run the Camera Troubleshooter

Even if it’s a basic step, it can sometimes detect hidden configuration issues:

Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters

Scroll to Camera and click Run

2. Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, video recording issues are tied to recent OS patches:

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates

Install all available updates and restart your laptop

3. Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

This will help check if there’s a hardware-related issue:

Turn off the laptop

Press Esc repeatedly when turning it back on, then press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

Select Component Tests > Camera Test and follow the on-screen instructions

4. Perform a Clean Boot

This helps identify if any third-party app is interfering:

Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and hit Enter

Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all

Go to Startup tab > Open Task Manager > Disable all startup items

Restart your system and try the Camera app again

5. Try Using the Camera in Another App

Sometimes, the issue is limited to one app:

Test the camera with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Skype

This helps verify whether the issue is app-specific

6. BIOS and Firmware Update

Check if your system BIOS or firmware needs updating:

Visit: HP Software and Driver Downloads

Enter your product name or let HP detect your device

Download and install any available BIOS or firmware updates

If none of these steps work, please let me know. We can then look at collecting system logs or consider deeper system recovery options. Again, I truly understand how inconvenient this is, and I’m here to help until it’s resolved.

If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
